AT&T has released a new service for subscribers called voice mail to text.  For $9.99/month you can have your voice mails transcribed and sent to you either by text message, email, or both.

You will even then be able to reply by calling the person back, sending a text message, or emailing them.  I can definitely see the advantages to such a service especially if there is a bad connection, static, or whatever the case may be.  Having what the person has said via text would be great.
